Steve Leung: Home facing the sea

Aug 17,2023 | SEEYE

In the morning, open the curtain, is the sky and sea; Open the doors and Windows, is the garden green trees; Looking back inside, it's a cozy space. This is the residence of the famous designer Steve Leung, designed by him himself. "I integrated the house into nature, bringing the sky, the sea, the trees into the house," he said.

"I love the sea and water. I swim and ski a lot. I also love grass, plants and nature." In densely populated Hong Kong, he searched for a long time, and finally found a suitable place far from the city, and spent 14 months remodeling and decorating.

The whole house uses the same tone of walnut wood, with earth color furniture and simple materials, more harmonious, to implement the modern and simple design characteristics of Liang Zhitian.

The first floor is the living room, with wood and coffee colors as the main tones, filled with a cozy atmosphere. Since the house itself is low in height, the living room ceiling is made of wood and painted in dark coffee to make the space look more compact.

The materials used in Mr. Leung's homes are simple and modest, not luxurious, and "interior design should not only use the most popular elements, colors and materials."

On both the walls and the roof, Leung chose a large amount of wood to decorate the entire home.

The unique natural texture of wood, fine texture, soft color, extended to the wall, visual impact immediately presented, simple and emitted a natural breath, quiet and comfortable.

The house is specially equipped with three kitchens, each with a different function. One is a Chinese kitchen where dishes are cooked every day, one is a Japanese kitchen where you can make teppanyaki and tempura, and the last is a Western kitchen designed for my daughter.

The top floor is the master bedroom of Leung and his wife. He is busy with work and spends a lot of time resting in the room every day when he returns home.

The master bedroom and bathroom are the Spaces where he spends the most time in the entire home.

Because he likes to see the sea, he specially installed a large floor-to-ceiling glass window, every morning when he gets up, the first thing is to open the curtain and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the sea and sky.
